The CIMG-2500 is an efficient glycol cooler for two fermenters that has a fantastic cooling performance. It is compact, quiet and ideal for the home environment. It is powerful enough to independent cool up to two well-insulated fermenters up to 300L size. It has a cooling power of about 500 Watts (0.67 HP), so it is suitable for shock cooling even at high ambient temperatures. For maximum use of this unit, we recommend the use of propylene glycol (ideally about 30% concentration).

Description

The CIMG-2500 is an efficient glycol cooler for two fermenters that has a fantastic cooling performance. It is compact, quiet and ideal for the home environment. It is powerful enough to independent cool up to two well-insulated fermenters up to 300L size. It has a cooling power of about 500 Watts (0.67 HP), so it is suitable for shock cooling even at high ambient temperatures. For maximum use of this unit, we recommend the use of propylene glycol (ideally about 30% concentration).

Unlike other cooling units, this chiller comes with 2 integrated pumps and temperature controllers. This allows you to independently cool two fermenters simultaneously at different temperatures.
Set the temperature on the main tank to -4C, then (after adding 30% glycol) and on the other side of the CIMG-2500 set the other two temperatures to your ideal fermentation temperatures. No additional wiring and accessory is required (only hoses for connection of the chiller with the tanks). The pumps are included in the delivery and are already connected, ready to use.

Technical specifications :

  • Refrigerant: R600a isobutane
  • Cooling power: 500 Watts (0.67HP) – the real cooling power depends on ambient temperature and set temperature of glycol

Filling the reservoir with water and glycol

The CIMF-4500 chiller can be operated with either just water in the reservoir or both water and glycol to reduce the freezing point of water.

IMPORTANT: If you are only using water in the reservoir and not glycol then never do set the temperature of the reservoir below 2°C.

Fill the reservoir to a total of 20L with water if the reservoir is set at 2°C or an appropriate Concentration of glycol solution if dropping the reservoir below 2°C according to the table below.
Ensure the cooling coils are submerged.

The amount of glycol required to be added to the reservoir depends on the desired set temperature of the reservoir which is dependent on a number of factors including heat ingress into the entire system, insulation of the glycol lines, ambient temperature, the number of kegs being cooled and the temperature of the kegs.

Use the table below to determine what percentage of glycol you require.

Glycol Volume % Freezing Point °C Specific Gravity at 21°C
0 0.0 1.000
10 – 3.3 1.006
20 – 7.8 1.015
30 – 13.3 1.024
