Description
Lasselsberger F4 kieselguhr (filtration diatomaceous earth) is a filtration material intended for ultra fine filtration of beverages or liquids with a high turbidity like wine, syrup, beer, cider, and other low viscosity liquids. Recommended for the final filtration – the last stage of the liquid filtration process.
Kieselguhr for ultra-fine filtration which, when used correctly, guarantees high clarity of the filtered liquid. Filtration speed 10-30 l/m2/hour.

The specific advantages of Lasselsberger kieselguhr:
– Optimum dirt holding capacity
– Reliable filtration through rapid formation of an adherent filter cake
– Very economic due to the optimum ratio of flow rate and clarification sharpness
– Maximum purity, safe to use in accordance with German and EU regulations and US-FDA (Food and Drug Administration) requirements concerning the production of beverages
Application
Lasselsberger F4 kieselguhr is recommended for the final ultra fine filtration in the following filter devices:
- Plate filters with washable support plates
- Kieselguhr filters (the candle filters) with horizontal or vertical screen elements
- Cartridge filters with vertical filter cartridges
- Rotary vacuum filters for separating larger solid quantities, according to the machine manufacturer’s specifications
- Filter presses for sludge separation: Lasselsberger diatomaceous earth is mixed into the liquid sludge as a drainage aid or added as a pre-coat for improving filtrate clarification
Product Characteristics
Diatomaceous earth is produced from the silicaceous deposits of microscopic diatoms. The powdery Lasselsberger diatomaceous earth is produced by mixing specially selected particle sizes. It is largely free from non-filtering components such as fine dust and silica sand.
Safety
When used and handled correctly, there are no known unfavorable effects associated with Lasselsberger diatomaceous earth. Inhalation of dust is harmful. If dust forms, use an extractor or wear a breathing mask.
Further safety information can be found in the relevant Material Safety Data Sheet, which will be delivered on demand.
Storage
As an active adsorbent, Lasselsberger diatomaceous earth may take up moisture and odors.
It must therefore be stored in undamaged packaging in a dry, well ventilated place without off-smell.
