GUM Certificate

GUM certificate – The legal document confirming that the equipment and machines are made according to the conditions and standards of GUM (Główny Urząd Miar – the National Metrology Institute in Poland).

About GUM

The Central Office of Measures is the authority of governmental administration competent with respect to matters of measures and hallmarking. Pursuant to the Act of Parliament of the 11^th of May 2001, Law on Measures (The Journal of Laws 2004 no. 243, item 2441 with further amendments) and to the Regulation of Prime Minister of the 16^th of November 2007 on the specific activity profile of the Minister of Economy (The Journal of Laws no. 216, item 1593), the President of the Central Office of Measures is appointed by the Prime Minister and supervised by the Minister relevant in the matters of the economy.

Organizational structure of the Office is regulated by:

1. the Statute of the Central Office of Measures, passed through an order issued by the Minister of Economy of the 5^th of April 2007 on the statute of the Central Office of Measures (The Polish Monitor no. 29, item 324 and 2011, no. 45, item 505);
2. the Bylaw of the Central Office of Measures introduced with the Order no. 2 of the President of the Office of 28^th of June 2011.

The scope of tasks of the Central Office of Measures includes issues related with scientific, legal and industrial metrology as well as hallmarking. There is a close cooperation in the above mentioned fields, which makes it easier to coordinate the execution of tasks that the Polish administration of measures is charged with.
